WACO, Texas – Victor Parreiras of the University of Texas-Brownsville was named the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 13-19, while Jason Taffet of the University of St. Thomas (Texas) garnered Defensive Player of the Week recognition for the same dates. This is the eighth set of weekly awards for the 2014 men's soccer season.

Parreiras, a senior midfielder from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, scored four of his team's five goals this week to help the Ocelots' stay undefeated. He provided the difference in a key RRAC match-up with both of UTB's goals that resulted in a 2-1 victory over Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). He also netted a pair of goals as UTB blanked the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas), 3-0, on Saturday. Parreiras ranks first in the conference in assists (11), second in points (29), and fifth in goals (9) this season. The 10th-ranked Ocelots are now 5-0 in RRAC action and 14-0 overall.
