WACO, Texas – Lynette Holmes of Langston University (Okla.) captured the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for her play over the dates of Nov. 10-16. This is the second award of the 2014-15 women's basketball season.
Holmes propelled Langston to two more victories last week, including a 71-68 upset of defending national champion and top-ranked Oklahoma City University. The nation's scoring leader in 2013-14 accounted for 22 points and seven rebounds as the Lady Lions avenged a loss to OCU in the first round of last year's NAIA tournament. Holmes also poured in 30 points and grabbed eight boards en route to an 89-74 victory over St. Gregory's University (Okla.). For the week, the senior guard from New Orleans made 18-of-31 shots from the field (58%), 6-of-11 from three-point range (55%) and 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Langston jumped to 4-0 on the season and is currently ranked 24th in the NAIA.
