WACO, Texas – Kourtney Pennywell of LSU Shreveport earned recognition as the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance over the dates of Jan. 19-25. This is the 11th weekly award of the 2014-15 RRAC women's basketball season.

 

The RRAC's leading scorer and rebounder, Pennywell continued her torrid pace with 20.0 points and 9.7 rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Pilots. She tallied 22 points and 14 rebounds on Tuesday as LSUS lost to in-state rival LSU Alexandria, 79-68. The sophomore forward notched 17 points while playing just over half of the minutes in a 106-19 victory over Paul Quinn College (Texas), and she added another double-double with 21 points and 10 boards to blast Texas College, 92-59, over the weekend. Pennywell, a native of Shreveport, La., connected on 24-of-41 shots from the field and 11-of-14 from the free throw line in the three games. She is now averaging 21.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game for the season while remaining among the top five in field goal percentage and blocks. LSUS moved to 6-4 in conference play and 10-8 overall.
