WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- Fifth-seeded Bacone College (Okla.) earned its first national tournament berth with an 86-85 overtime victory against Texas College in the title game of the 2010 RRAC Men's Basketball Tournament on Saturday.
The Warriors overcame an eight-point deficit with 1:51 remaining in overtime to tie the game. Chad Tyler provided the difference by sinking one of two free throws with 3.2 seconds on the clock. Tyler finished with a game-high 28 points, while tournament MVP accounted for 19 points and 10 rebounds for Bacone.
Texas College was led by Jacobie Bias with 23 points and Trey Manning with 22. Manning connected on two three-pointers to give the Steers a 78-74 lead early in the overtime period. LaDarren Williams chipped in 17 points, 16 boards and seven blocks.
Bacone received the RRAC's second automatic berth in the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. Texas Weselyan University earned the first automatic as the RRAC's regular season champion.
