SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Top-seeded LSU Alexandria started NAIA Softball World Series play on Saturday with a 10-9 loss to Concordia University (Ore.) at Elizabeth and Irving Jensen Softball Complex. The Generals surrendered three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning including a bases-clearing double by Kate Santos to close out the game. The loss put an end to LSUA's 41-game winning streak and sent the Generals into a match-up with University of Mobile (Ala.) on Monday at 1 p.m.

LSUA took the lead, 9-7, in the top of the ninth on a two-run single by Paulean Gonzalez after tying the game in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Kimberly Gonzalez. The teams traded the lead after the Generals built a 4-0 edge in the first two innings with a two-run homer by Kelsey Hollier. Leadoff hitter Brooke Thomas was 3-for-6 in the game, and Hollier was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Generals. Kimberly Gonzalez, Paulean Gonzalez and Hollier collected two RBIs each.
