TAMUT's Narvaez, LCU's Mafra recognized with RRAC women's soccer weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Desiree Narvaez of Texas A&M University-Texarkana earned the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Sept. 4-10, while Maryane Mafra of Louisiana Christian University was named RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the third set of conference awards for the 2023 women's soccer season.

Narvaez registered a goal and an assist in the Eagles' 4-2 win over Bethel University (Tenn.). The freshman forward from Mesquite, Texas, assisted on the go-ahead goal that put TAMUT in front, 3-2, and scored the game-winner. Narvaez leads the 5-0 Eagles with three goals and seven points on the season.

Mafra captained the Wildcats' defense in back-to-back shuouts last week. The senior defender from Natal, Brazil, played through an injury and defended LCU's end of the field. Mafra and the Wildcats defeated Williams Baptist University (Ark.), 10-0, and the University of Mobile (Ala.), 3-0 to climb to 2-1 overall.
