Daily, Alcalde garner RRAC women's soccer weekly honors

WACO, Texas – Alyssa Daily of Texas A&M University-Texarkana garnered the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor for Sept. 18-24, while Carlota Alcalde of LSU Shreveport (La.) claimed the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week award for the same dates. This is the fifth set of conference awards for the 2023 women's soccer season.

Daily racked up six goals in a 2-0 week in conference action for the Eagles. The senior forward from Fort Worth, Texas, netted five goals in a 7-2 win over Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) on Thursday and added another in a 3-1 victory over the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas). The 2022 RRAC Offensive Player of the Year, Daily leads the RRAC with nine goals this season. The Eagles now sit at 4-0 in conference play and 9-0 on the season.

Alcalde recorded two shutouts while in goal for the Pilots last week. The junior goalkeeper from Valladolid, Spain, kept LSUS alive for a 0-0 tie with UHV, and she led the way to a 6-0 victory over HT. Alcalde had six saves for the week, and she is third in the conference with a 0.60 goals against average. The Pilots move to 1-1-2 in the RRAC, and they are 3-3-2 overall.
