TAMUT's Picano, UHV's Kaeppeli pick up RRAC men's soccer weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Diego Picano of Texas A&M University-Texarkana merited recognition as the RRAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week powered by WinWon for Sept. 2-8, and Tyler Kaeppeli of the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) was selected RRAC Defensive Player of the Week powered by WinWon for the same dates. This is the third set of conference winners for the 2024 men's soccer season.

Picano racked up three goals in a 1-1 week for the Eagles. The junior forward from Santa Rosa, Calif., scored twice in a 4-3 loss to Texas Wesleyan Univeristy, and he provided a goal that was the difference in a 2-1 victory at Central Baptist College (Ark.). Picano is now second among conference leaders in goals (3) and points (7). TAMUT is now 1-2-1 on the season.

Kaeppeli came off the bench to hold Wayland Baptist University (Texas) scoreless for more than 80 minutes in a 3-0 Jaguars victory. The junior goalkeeper from Vernon, B.C., provided a season-high six saves to secure UHV's second consecutive shutout. Kaeppeli now has 15 clean sheets in his career with the Jaguars and his save total was the second-highest of his career. UHV improved to 2-0-1 overall.
