Xavier's Schroeder, Shreveport's Correa named RRAC women's soccer players of the week
WACO, Texas – Luci Schroeder of Xavier University (La.) garnered the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor for Sept. 16-22, while Karina Correa of LSU Shreveport (La.) earned RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the fifth set of conference awards for the 2024 women's soccer season.
Schroeder set a school record and tied another in a 2-0 week for the Gold Nuggets. The senior midfielder from Samtens, Germany, established a new Xavier mark for points in a game with nine (9) and tied the school best for goals (3) in a 14-0 win over Paul Quinn College (Texas). Schroeder also assisted on a pair of scores in a 7-0 victory over University of the Southwest (N.M.) to finish the week with three goals and five assists. She is tied for third in the conference with 14 points this season. Xavier is 2-0 in conference play out of the gate with a 3-3 mark on the season.
Correa recorded two shutouts as the Pilots started the conference season with a pair of wins. The junior goalkeeper from Austin, Texas, kept Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) at bay with five saves in a 4-0 victory. Correa also kept Texas A&M University-San Antonio scoreless in a 4-0 win. She leads the RRAC with a 0.41 goals against average. LSUS moved to 5-2 overall.
