Xavier's Roper, Wiesiolek recognized with RRAC women's soccer weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Samira Roper of Xavier University (La.) captured the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Sept. 30-Oct. 6, while Xavier's Theresa Wiesiolek locked down the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the seventh set of conference awards for the 2024 women's soccer season.

Roper scored in both road victories for the Gold Nuggets over RRAC teams that entered the week unbeaten. The junior forward from Heredia, Costa Rica, netted two goals to provide the difference in a 4-2 win against LSU Shreveport (La.). Roper then accounted for the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Texas A&M University-Texarkana. She is now tied for the conference lead in goals scored with 10, and she is third in points (23). Xavier took sole possession of first place in the RRAC at 5-0 with a 6-3 record on the season.

Wiesiolek was the winning goalkeeper in both of the Gold Nuggets' victories. The senior from Karlsruhe, Germany, defeated LSUS, which entered the match at 4-0 in the conference, and she posted a shutout over TAMUT, which was previously 5-0. Wiesiolek holds a 1.44 goals against average, which is sixth best in the RRAC. Xavier has won six matches in a row.
