Schroeder, Garcia earn RRAC women's soccer weekly honors

WACO, Texas – Luci Schroeder of Xavier University (La.) claimed the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor for Oct. 7-13, while Melanie Garcia of LSU Shreveport (La.) was named the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the eighth set of conference awards for the 2024 women's soccer season.

Schroeder produced six goals and four assists in a 2-0 week for the Gold Nuggets. The senior midfielder from Samtens, Germany, became the program's career leader in multi-goal games with five, and she tied the school record for goals in a game twice with hat tricks. A 2023 NAIA third-team All-American, Schroeder now leads the RRAC with 36 points this season. Xavier rolled to 7-0 in conference play with an 8-3 mark overall.

Garcia delivered two important wins for the Pilots while in goal this week. The junior goalkeeper from San Francisco earned a 2-0 shutout over LSU Alexandria (La.) then recorded seven saves in a 3-1 victory over Louisiana Christian University. Garcia has a 1.47 goals against average this season for the Pilots, who are now 7-1 in the RRAC and 10-3 on the season.
