OLLU's Perez, Pena post personal best times to earn RRAC cross country runner of the week awards
WACO, Texas – Jose Perez of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) merited recognition as the RRAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Oct. 7-13, while OLLU's Valeria Pena was selected as the RRAC Women's Runner of the Week for the same dates. This is the seventh set of awards of the 2024 cross country season.
Perez placed 17th as the Saints hosted the OLLU Cross Country Invite on Saturday. The sophomore from Laredo, Texas, ran a personal best time of 26:53 in the 8K distance. There were 71 runners in the field of 11 teams, and OLLU finished fourth.
Pena was the top finisher for the Saints in the women's race at the OLLU Invite. The sophomore from Laredo, Texas, posted a personal best time of 23:14 on the 6K course to finish 24th in the field of 79 competitors. OLLU placed fifth in the women's team results.
