USW's Scott, LCU's Nwaoshai tabbed as RRAC men's hoops players of the week

WACO, Texas – Antony Scott of University of the Southwest (N.M.) was tabbed as the RRAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for Jan. 6-12, while Chukwuemeke Nwaoshai of Louisiana Christian University earned the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the 10th set of weekly awards for the 2024-25 men's basketball season.

Scott poured in 31 points in the Mustangs' 80-76 victory over North American University (Texas) on Saturday. The senior guard from Waco, Texas, sank 6-of-12 shots from the field and a nearly perfect 17-of-18 free throw attempts. Scott also collected four steals as he exceeded his average of 10.8 points per game for the season. USW improved to 7-6 in conference play and 10-6 overall.

Nwaoshai racked up six blocks in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. The senior forward from Lagos, Nigeria, set a season high with three blocked shots in a win over Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) then matched that number en route to a victory over Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Nwaoshai also collected 13 defensive rebounds. He is seventh in the RRAC in total rebounds per game (6.8). LCU climbed to 6-6 against conference competition and 6-9 on the season.
