Gibson, Garcia take RRAC baseball weekly honors for Feb. 10-16

WACO, Texas – Josh Gibson of LSU Shreveport (La.) was recognized as the RRAC Baseball Player of the Week for Feb. 10-16, while Julian Garcia of the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) claimed the RRAC Pitcher of the Week award for the same dates. This is the fourth set of weekly winners for the 2025 RRAC baseball season.

Gibson collected five RBIs and four extra-base hits in the Pilots' three-game sweep over Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). The senior infielder from O'Fallon, Ill., went 6-for-13 at the plate with two walks and two stolen bases. Gibson was 3-for-5 with a double, triple and home run in the series finale as LSUS won, 8-3. He is fifth in the conference with 14 RBIs to this point. LSUS rose to 14-0 on the season and starts at 3-0 in conference play.

Garcia hurled a four-hit shutout for a 7-0 win over University of the Southwest (N.M.). The senior right-hander from Houston struck out nine hitters and walked one over nine innings of work. Garcia moved to 3-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to 1.73. He is fourth in the RRAC in strikeouts with 27. UHV improves to 12-2 on the season and begins RRAC competition at 3-0 with a sweep of USW.
