TXC's Pyburn, HT's Carter earn final RRAC women's hoops weekly awards of the season

WACO, Texas – Tyler Pyburn of Texas College claimed the RRAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week honor for Feb. 17-23, while Aliyah Carter of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) received the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week award for the same dates. This is the 16th and final set of weekly awards for the 2024-25 women's basketball season.

Pyburn averaged 23.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as the Steers won back-to-back games against Louisiana Christian University. The junior forward from Blooming Grove, Texas, scored 26 points in Thursday's win and 20 on Saturday. Pyburn was 15-of-37 on field goal attempts and 16-of-24 from the free throw line for the week. She is second in the conference in scoring with 19.5 points per game. TXC wrapped up the season at 9-15 in the RRAC and 10-17 overall.

Carter collected seven steals as the Rams won their last two regular season contests. The freshman guard from Pflugerville, Texas, averaged 9.5 rebounds per game and was credited with six steals in a victory over Texas A&M University-Texarkana. HT is the No. 4 seed in the RRAC tournament coming up this weekend after finishing at 12-12 in the conference and 13-14 on the season.
