Garcia, Reeves grab RRAC baseball player and pitcher of the week honors

WACO, Texas – Cristian Garcia of the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) was tabbed as the RRAC Baseball Player of the Week for Feb. 24-March 2, while Cobe Reeves of LSU Shreveport (La.) garnered the RRAC Pitcher of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the sixth set of weekly winners for the 2025 RRAC baseball season.

Garcia hit .692 with four RBIs in a 4-0 week for the Jaguars. The graduate outfielder/first baseman from Houston had the best game of his college career by going 5-for-5 with a home run and three runs scored in UHV's monumental 6-4 win over NCAA Division I Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi on Wednesday. Garcia closed the week with a 3-for-4 outing with a pair of RBIs and his fourth homer of the year in a 24-2 win over Xavier University (La.). He leads the RRAC in average (.532), on-base percentage (.663) and slugging percentage (.839). Garcia has reached base safely in all 21 games for the Jaguars this season. UHV extended its RRAC record to 9-2 with a 19-2 mark overall.

Reeves tossed a seven-inning no-hitter in the Pilots' 12-0 victory over Louisiana Christian University to complete a three-game conference series sweep. The senior lefty from Ingleside, Texas, struck out nine batters while allowing coming up one walk away from a perfect game. His strikeout-to-inning ratio is now 11.6, and his WHIP is 0.14. The transfer from Southeastern University (Fla.) is 3-0 on the season with a 3.42 ERA. LSUS is 6-0 in conference play and 19-0 on the season.
