Ross, Hernandez propel OLLU to six wins, garner RRAC softball weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Grace Ross of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) earned the RRAC Softball Player of the Week award for Feb. 24-March 2, while OLLU's Ava Hernandez collected the RRAC Pitcher of the Week honor for the same dates.  This is the fifth set of weekly winners for the 2025 RRAC softball season.

Ross hit .600 for the week with 12 hits and eight RBIs as the Saints won all six of their games. The senior catcher from Austin, Texas, connected on two home runs, five doubles and a triple as OLLU won a pair of games over University of the Southwest (N.M.) and completed a four-game sweep of the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas). In the first game against UHV, Ross was 4-for-5 with four extra-base hits and three RBIs in a 16-5 victory. She leads the conference with 25 RBIs, and she is second in batting average (.526). Ross is tied for the league lead in homers with six. The Saints are now 6-0 in RRAC play and 15-4 on the season.

Hernandez posted a 3-0 record in the Saints' big week with three complete games. The sophomore right-hander from Alice, Texas, tossed 17 innings in the circle while allowing five runs on 11 hits and recording a 1.24 earned run average. Hernandez struck out 15 batters and issued just one walk. She is now 6-2 on the season with a 2.42 ERA.
