Gutierrez, Rohde claim RRAC baseball weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Rafael Gutierrez of the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) captured the RRAC Baseball Player of the Week award for March 10-16, while Isaac Rohde of LSU Shreveport (La.) repeated as the RRAC Pitcher of the Week for the same dates. This is the eighth set of weekly winners for the 2025 RRAC baseball season.

Gutierrez provided two pivotal hits in the Jaguars' first-ever sweep of Texas A&M University-Texarkana. The graduate first baseman and outfielder from Jacksonville, Fla., delivered a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning of the first game as UHV won, 9-4, in front of a record crowd of 2,342. He followed on Saturday with another go-ahead slam in the fifth inning of an 11-9 win in the third game. Gutierrez finished the week with 11 RBIs and four runs scored. He is 12^th in the RRAC with 22 RBIs overall. Tenth-ranked UHV is now 14-1 in conference play and 25-3 on the season.

Rohde delivered another dominant performance in the Pilots' 15-1 victory over Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) on Friday. The senior lefty from Rice Lake, Wis., scattered six hits over seven innings while allowing one run. Rohde struck out 13 batters and walked one. He is now 6-0 on the season with the third-best ERA in the conference (1.98) and second-best strikeout total (71). LSUS is the No.1 team in the land with a 25-0 mark overall and a 12-0 record in the RRAC.
