LSU Shreveport's Lucas Morgan honored with NACDA Athletic Director of the Year award

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport Athletic Director Lucas Morgan has been named one of the 28 recipients of the prestigious National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Athletic Director of the Year Award. This recognition highlights Morgan's remarkable leadership and his impact on the success of LSUS athletics, student-athlete development, and community engagement.

The ADOY award recognizes athletic directors from seven divisions — NCAA FBS, FCS, Division I-AAA, II, III, NAIA/Other Four-Year Institutions, and Junior College/Community Colleges — for their contributions to athletic programs and student-athletes. Morgan will be honored during the 60th Annual NACDA & Affiliates Convention at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla. The awards ceremony will take place at the Association-Wide Featured Session on Tuesday, June 10, at 4 p.m.

Morgan's leadership at LSUS began in 2016, and his impact has been felt across both athletic and academic programs. Since his arrival, LSUS has captured 33 RRAC championships and made 32 national tournament appearances, including six NAIA Opening Round titles. His commitment to academic success has been equally impressive, with over 65% of LSUS student-athletes maintaining GPAs above 3.0. Multiple teams have posted GPAs over 3.0 each year of his tenure.

The athletic department has been honored with numerous accolades, including Morgan being name the Red River Athletic Conference Athletic Director of the Year twice (2018-19, 2022-23) and recognition as an NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Institution. Under Morgan's leadership, LSUS also earned its first RRAC All-Sports Trophy in 2020-21 marking the department as the top overall program in the conference.

Beyond LSUS, Morgan has played a key role in shaping the broader NAIA landscape. He joined the NAIA Athletics Directors Association (NAIA-ADA) Board of Directors in 2018 and was elected 2nd Vice President in 2024. He currently serves on the NAIA National Administrative Council, the NAIA Competitive Experience Committee, and the Minority Opportunities Athletics Association (MOAA) Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the NAIA Championship Competition Committee and the NAIA Men's Soccer Executive Committee, where he also serves on the National Selection Committee.

Morgan's influence extends into the Shreveport-Bossier community, where he has fostered a culture of service and engagement. LSUS student-athletes have dedicated thousands of hours to community service projects, including toy and food drives, clean-up initiatives, and outreach at local schools. His leadership in these efforts was recognized when he was named to the Greater Shreveport 40 Under Forty Class of 2023.

Morgan's recognition as a NACDA Athletic Director of the Year reflects the tremendous strides LSUS athletics have made under his leadership. His ability to balance competitive success, academic achievement, and community involvement has made LSUS a model of excellence in NAIA athletics.
