RRAC recognizes track & field athletes of the week for conference meet performances
WACO, Texas – RRAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week were announced today for April 21-27 with this week's honorees including Jaheene Bell of Xavier University (La.) (men's track), Mansur Ali of Xavier (men's field), Jaymee Yelton of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) (women's track), and Leojai Hibbert of Xavier (women's field). This is the sixth and final set of awards for the 2025 RRAC outdoor track & field season.
Bell repeated as conference champion in the 400 hurdles at the RRAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The sophomore from Old Harbour, Jamaica, posted an NAIA B-qualifying time of 53.17, which was the fastest time in the RRAC meet in 15 years. Bell received the High Point Athlete award in men's track at the event with 24.5 points including anchoring the Gold Rush's 4x400 relay team, leading off their 4x100 team, and claiming the individual title in the 400-meter dash.
Ali won the RRAC meet award for the High Point Athlete in men's field events with 32 points. The freshman from Pike Road, Ala., won the shot put event with a distance of 14.37. He was the runner-up in discuss and hammer throw, while placing third in the javelin. His toss of 37.59 in the javelin was his personal best, as he helped the Gold Rush place second in the team standings.
Yelton recorded three individual event titles and tied Jaelyn Mitchell of Xavier for the most points in women's track at the RRAC championships. The senior from Houston won the women's 800-meter run for the fourth consecutive year with the fastest RRAC time in 15 years (2:11.96). Yelton has posted the best three times in that time span. Yelton also won the 400-meter dash with the best time in seven years (55.58). Both wins were NAIA A-qualifying times. She also finished as runner-up in the 1500 and was part of HT's victorious 4x400 relay team.
Hibbert pushed Xavier to the RRAC team championship as the women's field High Point Athlete with 33 points. The sophomore from St. Catherine, Jamaica, scored in six events with titles in the shot put and triple jump. Hibbert's versatility showed with a runner-up finish in the javelin, third place in the 100 hurdles, fifth place in the high jump and eighth in the long jump. Including her track exploits, Hibbert scored a total of 39 points, which was the most for any individual (man or woman) at the meet.
