LSUA and TAMUT take over top spots in the 2026 RRAC Softball Preseason Poll, ending OLLU's four-season reign
The Generals topped the poll with nine points, while OLLU earned the remaining point.
LSUA posted an impressive 26-2 record, with one loss to OLLU (2-0) and the other to Texas A&M-San Antonio (9-7).
Similarly, OLLU went 27-1 in the conference last season, with its only loss to LSUA 10-4 in April. In the postseason, OLLU beat LSUA twice, 5-2 and 3-0 in the championship game. OLLU went 4-0 in the postseason tournament to capture the title.
TAMUT recorded a 24-4 conference record. The Eagles lost to LSUA 9-3 and 3-1 early in the season, and 9-5 in the postseason. The Eagles also fell to OLLU, 7-2 and 3-1.
The Jaguars posted a 19-9 RRAC record, including losses to OLLU, TAMUT, and LSUA twice in the regular season. In the postseason as the fourth seed, TAMUV defeated TAMUSA (7-4) and Louisiana Christian (3-2). The Jaguars fell to OLLU (3-2) and TAMUSA (2-0) in the conference tournament.
TAMUT returns second-year Head Coach Tony McKnight, who has an overall record of 41-12. LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge begins his third season with a 109-44 record. OLLU bid farewell to six-year Head Coach Bruce Lenington (238-64). Assistant coach Joey Armijo, who worked alongside Lenington all six years, was named head coach in August 2025. TAMUV's 12-year veteran Head Coach Lindsey Ortiz returns with an overall record of 346-178.
TAMUSA Head Coach Nicole Dame returns for her sixth season. LCU Hall of Famer Mattie Stine took over as head coach on Sept. 27. XULA's Kailey Anderson and USW's Chris Petroski begin their third season. Other coaches include Audrey Sanchez from JCU, Barry Roberts from LCU, and Bianca Gonzales from Texas College.
Preseason poll voting was submitted by each head coach. The results, shown below, are based on points calculated with an 11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 format. First-place votes are indicated in parentheses.
