LSUA sweeps RRAC Softball Players of the Week awards: Fontenot (player), Bailey (pitcher

WACO, Texas (April 6, 2026) – Honored with this week's RRAC Softball Players of the Week awards are Haley Fontenot from No. 24 LSU Alexandria (player) and Lainee Bailey (pitcher) from No. 24 LSU Alexandria for the period March 30-April 5. This is the 10th set of weekly awards. 

RRAC Softball Player of the Week – Haley Fontenot – No. 24 LSU Alexandria

Senior infielder Haley Fontenot won her third RRAC Player of the Week for her performance in the 2-1 series over No. 7 Our Lady of the Lake (Texas). She led the Generals to a pair of wins over the Saints with an average of .500, two home runs, and six runs batted in. One of her home runs was an inside-the-park home run. In game one, she led the team to a 10-2 win with 2-for-2 hitting, two runs, a double, a home run, and three RBIs. In game two, Fontenot helped her team to a 6-1 win after hitting 1-for-3, adding a home run and three RBIs. On defense, she recorded 7-of-11 putouts with four assists and a double play.

Fontenot is hitting .330 on the season. In 103 at-bats, she has tallied 30 runs, 34 hits, eight doubles, a triple, five home runs, 28 RBIs, 59 total bases, a .573 slugging percentage, 17 walks, and .435 on-base percentage. In addition, she has stolen 24-of-24 stolen bases. On defense, she has 51 putouts, 67 assists, and five double plays.

The Generals are 23-13 overall and 15-3 in the RRAC, for third place. LSUA is ranked No. 19 by the NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

RRAC Softball Pitcher of the Week – Lainee Bailey – No. 24 LSU Alexandria

Senior right-handed pitcher Lainee Bailey recorded a pair of wins over No. 7 OLLU. She threw a complete game in game two, holding OLLU to just four hits and one run. IN a total of 10.0 innings pitched, she allowed five hits, three runs, all earned, six walks, and four strikeouts.

In the season, Bailey leads her team with a 2.00 ERA, a WHIP of 1.25, and a 13-4 record. She has pitched seven complete games, earned two shutouts, and pitched 94.2 innings. Bailey has allowed 27 earned runs while striking out 83.

In the RRAC, Bailey is first in games started (18), second in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts.

LSUA is first in the RRAC with 947 at-bats, 75 doubles, 18 triples, 26 home runs, 129 stolen bases, 230.0 innings pitched, 690 putouts, 281 assists, 16 double plays, and second with 315 hits, 212 RBIs, 111 walks,

RRAC Notebook:

  • LCU freshman catcher Ceclina Bookman got at least one hit and scored at least one run in all three games (9-0, 7-5, 2-1) in the series against Jarvis Christian (Texas).
  • TAMUT sophomore infielder Victoria Clayton was the most effective Eagle at the plate in the series at TAMUV. Over the three-game series, she recorded four hits and had one RBI with an average of .444.
  • TAMUSA senior first-baseman Samara Aguilera was dominant in both outings for the weekend, helping the Jaguars go 2-0 over Texas College. She hit 3-for-5, adding four runs, two home runs, and 10 RBIs.
  • XULA freshman third-baseman Morgan Malveaux had the best series of her young career in a sweep over Southwest (N.M.). In the first game, Malveaux went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, a double, and a triple. She combined 7-for-10 (.700) with three runs scored, five RBIs, two doubles, and a triple.
  • TAMUV outfielder Khamryn Werdlow hit 7-for-12 in her team's 1-2 series against TAMUT. She added two runs and one RBI.
  • LCU junior right-handed pitcher Olivia Falcon earned a complete game shutout win and a save as LCU swept a three-game series from JCU.
  • TAMUT senior Rylee Glenn had a strong series performance on the road against TAMUV. She was the starter in both Eagles' victories over the Jaguars, striking out 12 total (six each game).
  • TAMUSA junior Sari Travis secured the 13-0 win over TXC. In the five-inning complete game, she struck out six.
  • XULA freshman pitcher Morgan Malveaux pitched a complete game 7-1 win over USW. She struck out 11.
  • TAMUV freshman right-handed pitcher Madelyn Butler secured a 5-2 win over TAMUT. She pitched seven innings and struck out two.
  • OLLU senior Annika Litterio earned a five-inning complete game 19-1 victory over LSUA. She allowed three hits, one earned run, two walks, and four strikeouts.
