Xavier Men Capture 2026 RRAC Track & Field Championship Title

NEW ORLEANS (April 25, 2026) — Red River Athletic Conference crowned a dominant champion Saturday as Xavier University of Louisiana won the 2026 RRAC Men's Track & Field Championship at Tad Gormley Stadium, compiling 274 points to claim the conference title on its home track and earn the program's latest outdoor crown.

Xavier used exceptional depth in the sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws to pull away from the field, finishing ahead of runner-up Our Lady of the Lake University (166 points) and third-place Texas A&M University-Texarkana (142 points). University of North Texas at Dallas, Jarvis Christian University, and Texas College rounded out the championship field.

Leading the Gold Rush effort, Yhann Plummer was named RRAC Men's Coach of the Year, guiding Xavier to a commanding performance that included multiple event titles and sweeping point totals in several field disciplines.

Xavier's Sprint Corps Sets the Tone

The Gold Rush were electric on the oval, led by Karri Noel, who turned in one of the meet's signature performances with victories in the 200m (21.47) and 400m (47.18), while adding runner-up honors in the 100m (10.72).

A&M-Texarkana's Giovani Jean-Pierre claimed the 100m title in 10.67, edging a loaded final, while Xavier's Jaheene Bell added a victory in the 400m hurdles (51.21).

Xavier also closed the championship in style, winning the 4x400m relay in 3:11.57, while UNT-Dallas captured the 4x100m relay in 40.91. OLLU took the 4x800m relay in 7:40.00.

Saints Dominate Distance Events

While Xavier controlled the team race, OLLU asserted itself in distance events.

Jose Saucedo doubled as conference champion in the 1,500m (4:08.00) and 3,000m (9:06.41), while teammate Jose Perez won the 800m in 1:54.45, leading an OLLU sweep of the top two spots.

Texas A&M-Texarkana's Chapman White captured the 5,000m (16:51.31), while OLLU swept the podium in the 10,000m, led by Sabastian Moreno in 40:51.60.

Xavier Rules the Field Events

The field events proved decisive in the championship race, where Xavier amassed a massive number of points.

Mansur Ali delivered a standout championship, winning the shot put (14.91), discus (46.69m), and the hammer (51.20).

Xavier also dominated:

  • Javelin: Tremanie Hamilton, 41.01m
  • High Jump: Kameron Loyd, 1.97m

The Gold Rush swept the top three in the high jump, a defining moment in the team title race.

UNTD's Bryson Mcrae captured the long jump (7.24m)

Texas A&M-Texarkana's Darlington Onsarigo won the triple jump (14.53m), while OLLU's Damian DeLeon claimed the 110m hurdles title in 14.35.

All-Conference Honors Awarded

The top four finishers in each event earned All-RRAC recognition.
