Xavier Women Roll to 2026 RRAC Track & Field Championship Crown

NEW ORLEANS (April 25, 2026). — Red River Athletic Conference crowned a dominant women's champion Saturday as Xavier University of Louisiana captured the 2026 RRAC Women's Track & Field Championship, scoring 294 points to win the conference title at Tad Gormley Stadium.

The Gold Nuggets separated themselves with exceptional depth across the sprints, hurdles, relays, and throwing events, finishing ahead of runner-up Our Lady of the Lake University (148 points) and Texas A&M University-Texarkana (140 points) in third. University of North Texas at Dallas, Jarvis Christian University, and Texas College completed the championship field.

Guiding Xavier's title run, Yhann Plummer earned RRAC Women's Coach of the Year honors after leading one of the most commanding team performances in recent conference history.

Xavier's Speed and Hurdles Power Title Run

The championship opened with fireworks in the sprint events.

University of North Texas at Dallas star Ashli Barron claimed a sprint double, winning the 100m (12.20) and 200m (24.63) in two of the meet's headline performances.

Texas A&M-Texarkana's J'layah Spellman-Collins won the 400m in 58.47, while Xavier's Chris Ann-Edwards took the 800m crown in 2:19.10.

Xavier dominated the hurdle events, led by Rochelle Jeffries, who captured the 100m hurdles title in 14.01, edging teammate Charieon Doxley by one-hundredth of a second in one of the meet's most dramatic finishes. Texas A&M-Texarkana's Jakouria Jamerson won the 400m hurdles in 1:03.66.

The Gold Nuggets were equally dominant in the relays, sweeping the sprint relays:

  • 4x100m Relay Champion — Xavier, 46.88
  • 4x400m Relay Champion — Xavier, 3:58.15

OLLU claimed the 4x800m relay in 9:27.00.

OLLU and TAMUT Shine in Distance

While Xavier controlled the team race, distance events delivered standout performances from OLLU and Texas A&M-Texarkana.

OLLU's Zaddie Santacruz won the 1,500m (5:15.43), while TAMUT's Kayla Reeves swept the distance double in the 3,000m (11:06.22) and 5,000m (19:28.44).

That sweep proved a major points boost in OLLU's runner-up finish.

Xavier's Field Event Depth Proves Decisive

The Gold Nuggets built their margin in the field, consistently piling up championship points.

Damysia Walls delivered one of the meet's premier all-around performances, winning the shot put (12.29m) and javelin (29.27m) while placing in discus.

Xavier also claimed titles in:

  • Hammer Throw — Charity Johnson, 37.94m
  • Shot Put — Damysia Walls, 12.29m
  • Javelin — Damysia Walls, 29.27m

Jarvis Christian's Sanaa Allison-Williams won the high jump at 1.70m, while Texas A&M-Texarkana's Vinae Edwards won the long jump (5.52m) and shared the triple jump title (11.31m) with Xavier's London Provo, who matched the winning mark.

Jarvis Christian's Keiora Gaines produced one of the meet's top field marks to win the discus at 42.71m.

The top four finishers in every event earned All-RRAC recognition.
