RRAC's LSUA and Xavier compete in Second Round of NAIA Women's Tennis Nationals
WACO, Texas (May 13, 2026) – The Red River Athletic Conference congratulates Xavier University of Louisiana, LSU Alexandria, Louisiana Christian University, and Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) for qualifying for the 45th Annual UTR Sports NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship. The event is being held at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., through May 16, for the 22nd consecutive year (the 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19).
The field has 13 automatic berths, including Xavier as the postseason tournament champion. There are 11 at-large selections as well. LSUA, LCU, and OLLU received at-large bids. The NAIA Tennis National Selection Committee (NSC) determined the selections. The NSC includes coaches and administrators from across the country.
The Sun Conference and the Red River Athletic Conference are tied for the most representation at the event with four teams apiece.
First-round matches began May 12, with the following results:
Louisiana Christian University lost to Stanton (Calif.), 4-2. In No. 1 singles, Elizaveta Mikhailova was defeated by Emilse Ruiz, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. In doubles, Valeria Callejo and Raquel Rodrigues lost to Ruiz and Romy Pols, 6-3. At No. 2 singles, Raquel Coelho Rodrigues lost to Pols, 4-6, 6-4, 2-6. At No. 3 singles, Valeria Callejo beat Buenina Polina, 6-1, 6-1. The match between Farren Allysia Sandy and Muangpho Waraporn was unfinished at 7-6, 5-5, 7-0. In doubles, Callejo and Rodrigues dropped the No. 2 match 3-6, while Uchiyama and Ferrer Martines won No. 3 doubles 6-1.
With their season concluded, the No. 13/No. 7 Wildcats, led by Head Coach Alexandra Starkova, finish with a 12-7 record.
Our Lady of the Lake University lost to Coastal Georgia 4-2. Carolina Guerrero at No. 1 singles won against CG's Karlie Scott Kersey 6-0, 6-4. CG's Gabriela Miteva defeated Anja Pisa at No. 2 singles 2-6, 1-6. Marie Peters at No. 3 singles fell to CG's Luna Feillon 5-7, 6-1, 2-4. OLLU's Ely Laure Ah-sou at No. 4 singles beat Gabriela Rodrigues 6-1, 6-1. Michaela Muller at No. 5 singles lost to CG's Felicia Elixmann 3-6, 6-3, 2-6. Maéva Chambon at No. 6 singles for OLLU fell to Manon Bauder 6-1, 4-6, 1-6. Pisar and Chambon at No. 1 doubles lost to Kersey and Rodrigues 3-6. Guerrero and Muller at No. 2 doubles fell to Miteva and Feillon 6-7 (4-7). Au-Sou and Peters at No. 3 doubles defeated Manon Baudet and Elixmann 6-1.
After their match, the Saints, led by Head Coach Ross Marzetti, ended the season with an 11-5 record.
Second-round matches are taking place today, May 13.
No. 5 Xavier University of Louisiana vs. No. 12 SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) and No. 7 LSU Alexandria vs. No. 10 Marian (Ind.). Both matches start at 1 p.m.
