RRAC's Louisiana Christian and LSU Shreveport end season at Opening Rounds of the NAIA Baseball Tournament
WACO, Texas (May 13, 2026) – The last two remaining Red River Athletic Conference teams participating in the Opening Round of the 69th Annual Baseball Tournament Championship saw their seasons end today. Louisiana Christian won in the early morning but lost later, while LSU Shreveport also earned a morning victory before falling to Mid-America Christian in the afternoon.
Earlier in the week, LSU Alexandria concluded its season on May 12 with one win and two losses. Meanwhile, Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) and Texas A&M-Victoria both exited the tournament after losing their two games.
With a 2-1 record, the second-seed Wildcats advanced to the third day, highlighted by a 16-3 victory over fourth-seed Northwestern Ohio in the Lawrenceville, Ga., bracket. Brady Huffman and Harrison Waxley each notched four RBIs, while Jacob Bareswill (5-3) secured the run-rule win by pitching a complete seven-inning game.
Next, LCU faced Georgia Gwinnett for the teams' second matchup. The Grizzlies, having previously defeated the Wildcats 12-6, triumphed again today, winning 12-4. Matthew Cody led the Wildcats by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
A huge congratulations to the Wildcats and Head Coach Mike Byrnes on their incredible 37-15 season, which marks the best record in team history!
Top-seed LSU Shreveport started the day 1-1 and first faced fourth-seed Oklahoma Wesleyan. The score was tied 5-5 through 11 innings before the Pilots took the lead on a sacrifice fly from Rodrigo Bravo, scoring Quaterrion Walton. Oklahoma Wesleyan went scoreless in the bottom half, giving the Pilots a 6-5 win. Bravo and Carlos Vega each had two RBIs, Joan Roman (3-0) earned the win, and Virot Siharath (Sv, 1) secured the save.
Having improved to 2-1, the Pilots quickly turned around to play Mid-America Christian (Okla.) for the second time this week. After an 8-2 loss on May 12, LSUS again fell to MACU, this time 7-4. The Pilots led briefly at 4-3 through the sixth inning, but MACU added four late runs to clinch victory. Walton paced LSUS with a triple and two RBIs.
