Game Recap: OLLU vs. College of Idaho
Saints, now 45-12, struck first in the bottom of the first. Star player Arianna Alejandro reached base on a single, and Reanna Aguirre was hit to place her on base. Both stole bases, and powerhouse Lilly Rocha's double to right sent them home to give the Saints the 2-0 lead. Novalee Gloria hit straight up the left-field line, moving Rocha home, and the Saints took the 3-0 lead.
Two scoreless innings were followed by a run scored by Alejandro on a single from Caitlin Casas, and the Saints now led 4-0 at the end of four innings.
The Yotes threatened in the fifth inning after hits from Chloe Flerchinger, Hallie Campbell, and Kamryn Ham, but they could not capitalize on them, as the inning ended with all three left on base. To close out the fifth, Alyssa Guzman singled to right to send Gloria home after she reached on an error. The Saints now led 5-0.
In the sixth, Marisa Rosales hit a double to left/center, and Tania Rodriguez scored after she reached on a throwing error. Keeping the Yotes to no hits and no chance to score at the top of the seventh, the Saints secured the 6-0 victory.
Alejandro went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Rocha was 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBIs. Alejandro and Aguirre each stole a base.
Annika Litterio (28-9) started in the circle, pitching five innings, and striking out three to earn the win. Valeria Vielma came in relief to pitch two innings, while striking out three.
The Yotes were led by Flerchinger, who had two hits. The pitching staff had appearances by three pitchers, all of whom did not strike out any players.
