OLLU returns to the top as RRAC men's track & field champions
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Host Our Lady of the Lake returned to the top of the platform, securing the 2023 RRAC Men's Track & Field Championships team title at Antonian High School following the completion of the second day of the meet on Saturday. The Saints compiled 252 points across all events, jumping ahead of Xavier's total of 204.

OLLU athletes were particularly strong across all track events, taking the top two spots in the 100- and 200-meter dashes with Tr'Darius Taylor and Jalen Bell winning gold. The Saints' Cerrone Thompson captured the 400 title, while Jose Zarate was a double-winner in the 1500 and 5000. OLLU swept the 10,000-meter run with Hector Puente leading the way, and they won 2-of-3 relay events. Jonathan Sanchez was the javelin champion as the Saints took the top three spots in that event.
Defending champion Xavier edged OLLU in the 4x800 relay by one second, and the Gold Rush's Lejaune George was the 3,000-meter champion. Thomas Donald took the top spot in two throwing events, the hammer throw and shot put while finishing as the runner-up in the discus. Xavier's Seth Alexander doubled up in the long jump and triple jump.
Huston-Tillotson placed third behind Xavier Howard's double gold in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles, and Zephania Cuico-McLennan was the 800 champion.
OLLU's Patrick Torres was recognized as the RRAC Coach of the Year.
